The JACKIE bloodline was made famous by the acquisition of JACKIE MHB 05-08 by Vastrap Boran and Hotspot Boran for an all African record cow price of R500 000 in 2011.

The JACKIE bloodline hails from the granddam K6K 2228, a polled cow from Jackie Kenyon of the Mogwooni stud in Laikipia, Kenya. KPO 786 was used as the sole sire to establish this bloodline.
The JACKIE bloodline flushes extremely well with many females regularly producing more than 20 embryos per flush. The purchase of JACKIE MHB 05-08 has been a resounding success. She has has a spectacular flushing record – 68 embryos in her first 12 months while raising a bull calf (Jagermeister HOT 1101) by Rustin MHB 06-30, and then amazed us by producing 40 embryos on her first flush after the birth of her second bull calf sired by Goliat MHB 06-47. This is a very profitable bloodline and a must for any existing or start-up Boran stud.
There were four full JACKIE sisters (K6K 2228 x KPO 786) in the herd we acquired from Mollshoop: JACKIE MHB 05-06, 05-08, 05-10 and 05-36. They are all prolific flushers with 197 embryos being produced between them in seven flushes. What this makes this even more remarkable is that approximately 90% were grade 1 embryos. They have never let us down!! JACKIE MHB 05-36 was sold at the 2012 National Boran Auction as the top priced female for R280 000.
The JACKIE bloodline is a perfect illustration of Vastrap Boran’s philosophy that the DAM genetics are more important than the sire in determining the quality of the offspring. All the JACKIE’s are very similar in looks ( i.e. phenotype) and flushing ability, yet several different sires have been used to create the JACKIE progeny. This indicates the influence of the maternal line.
Jackie MHB 07-31 was judged best cow and Champion of the Yard at the 2015 Boran Expo, after she was purchased at the 2014 Vastrap Auction by Groenland Borane.
The quality of bulls produced by the Jackie bloodline is also exceptional with Jaguar VST 12-18 (Jackie MHB 05-08 x Co-Jack) judged best young bull at the 2015 Boran Expo.
The combination of Jackie and Khan MHB 04-27 is the cornerstone of the Vastrap Boran herd (see Jackie-Khan: the foundation of the Vastrap Herd). VST 13-84 (Jackie MHB 09-20 x Khan) was the highest priced animal at the 2016 Vastrap Auction, sold for R160’000. His mother, Jackie MHB 09-20 was the highest priced cow at the auction (R140’000).
